Constance Hicks, Library Sciences
Mrs. Hicks started her teaching career as a middle school drama teacher in North Austin. After receiving a Masters at The University of Texas in Library Science, she came to Kocurek to settle into teaching at the best library ever!
Of course, Mrs. Hicks loves to read. And most of all to work with kids. Because she was a musical theater major in college, she can often be heard singing select pop hits of the 70’s and 80’s to anyone who will listen or educational songs with her students. In her humble opinion, there is nothing better than a steaming cup of coffee, curling up in a chair, and eating a piece of dark chocolate while enjoying a good read. (She is careful not to eat near her library books though!!!)
Mrs. Hicks considers herself a “book whisperer” because she loves to talk with kids about the next great book she thinks they will enjoy. If she is not reading at home in her spare time, she probably has a cat sitting on her book and cannot see the pages. Her motto is “when in doubt, read it out!”
